Johanna Boynton, CEO, Co-Founder, Partner
Johanna Boynton is the founder and CEO of Boynton Brennan Builders, which she co-founded with Mark Brennan in 2005. Over the past two decades, she has overseen the design and construction of more than forty homes in Concord, Massachusetts — including her own family’s home at 72 Chestnut Street.
A graduate of Harvard University, where she twice captained the Women’s Ice Hockey team, Johanna brings the same precision and commitment to building that defined her time on the ice. Her design philosophy is deceptively simple: the house should work for the family that lives in it. Think oversized mudrooms, laundry on the second floor, comfortable gathering spaces, and the thousand small details that make daily life easier and homes last for generations.
Beyond Boynton Brennan, Johanna is active in civic and institutional leadership. She currently serves as Chair of the Harvard Varsity Club, Chair of Building & Grounds at Middlesex School, Chair of Governance at Umbrella Arts Center, and Chair of Fundraising at Emerson Hospital. She previously served as Chair of the Concord-Carlisle Regional School Committee from 2013 to 2019.

Mark Brennan, Co-Founder, Partner
Mark Brennan has been building houses since 1982 and is renowned for his thoughtful approach to design and quality. It is often said that when Mark builds a house, he adopts it as his own. “There are a thousand little details that most buyers would never think about – where to put the light switches, which way a door swings, how high the risers are on the stairs,” muses Mark. “If I do my job well, these things will never even occur to the buyer.” Mark has a relentless commitment to quality and our buyers will be happy to tell you about it.
